32 additional cases of COVID-19 in Madison Co.; confirmation delayed by backlog April 23, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirmed 32 additional cases of COVID-19 Friday. The health department says 18 of those cases are from a data backlog from one local healthcare provider, and eight of those cases were tested within the last three days. Madison County now has 11,276 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. Those patients range from 19-years-old to 72-years-old. There is currently one Madison County resident hospitalized. The health department says that patient is not on a ventilator. The health department also released statistics on patients, including zip code, race, gender, age and their health statuses.

WBBJ TV Free rides now being offered. April 23, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. Help for disabled individuals in West Tennessee who want to receive their COVID-19 vaccine has now arrived. JCIL will provide free rides to the health department to give those living with disabilities the opportunity to get their shot. A worker will chaperone the person during their visit. Then, they will take them back home after they receive the vaccine. And JCIL will also provide a sign language interpreter at the health department for the deaf and hard of hearing on select dates: Thursday, April 29 (9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m.)

Jackson State hosts drive-thru vaccination clinic April 21, 2021 The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department administered the Pfizer vaccine at Jackson State Community College on Wednesday. The drive-thru vaccination event was scheduled to last from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the gym of Jackson State’s campus. Anyone age 16 and older was eligible to receive the vaccine. Jackson State director of Human Resources Amy West says the college had one thing in mind when hosting the event. “To help reopen and revitalize the community. We want students back on this campus. We are excited to get them back in the fall and the vaccine helps with that,” West said.

Jackson State to host public vaccination clinic Wednesday

WBBJ TV April 20, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. A local college is doing its part in making sure everyone who would like to get COVID-19 vaccinated can do so. Jackson State Community College is partnering with the Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department to host a vaccination clinic outside its gymnasium on campus Wednesday. This event is open to not only faculty and students, but the general public as well. The Pfizer vaccines will be given from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We’re just trying to get as many people vaccinated as we can. The sooner we’re all vaccinated, we can get back to some sense of normalcy, which I know everyone wants to do that and are excited about it. If we can help in any small way, that’s what I told the health department here and we’re willing to help,” said Jackson State President George Pimentel.
