Three additional deaths due to COVID were confirmed over the past week in Morgan County.
The Morgan County Health Department has received confirmation of the death of two males in their 90’s at a hospital and one male in his 50’s at an area nursing home.
The deaths bring the total number attributed to the virus in Morgan County to 109. The Health Department also received confirmation of an additional 39 cases of the virus last week from all ages groups including one infant.
Currently, there are 49 active cases in Morgan County with two people hospitalized. According to this afternoon’s announcement, there are now 34 residents at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab who have the virus, along with 13 staff members.

The Morgan County Health Department has announced another COVID-19 outbreak in the county.
The health department confirmed that 5 positive cases came from the First Christian Church Camp held between June 27
th and July 1
st. The health department is asking anyone associated with the camp to seek testing and to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of severe illness.
This is the second outbreak in the county in as many weeks, with last week’s outbreak announced at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The Jacksonville Skilled Nursing Outbreak was linked up to the larger outbreak that occurred at the Crossing Camp in Schuyler County.

New COVID-19 outbreak reported at Jacksonville care facility

A new COVID-19 outbreak is being reported at a Jacksonville nursing facility, according to health officials.
Positive cases have been confirmed in seven Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab patients and nine staff members, according to a weekly report by the Morgan County Public Health Department, Jacksonville/Morgan County Emergency Management, Memorial Health System, Morgan County commissioners and the city of Jacksonville.
An outbreak last year resulted in 81 cases and 18 deaths at the facility, according to Illinois Department of Public Health records.
Among all the long-term care facilities in Jacksonville, there were 197 coronavirus cases and 25 deaths last year.
