The Morgan County Historical Society has been awarded a matching grant of $2,500 to refine and repair 20 historic windows in the old Jacksonville Post Office building, which will be the home of The Jacksonville Area Museum.
The grant was awarded by Landmarks Illinois Preservation Heritage Fund and requires the historical society to match the amount.
“This grant will allow us to keep the building’s historic features intact while we serve the public as a history museum,” said David Blanchette, Jacksonville Area Museum board chairman. “The old post office will be one of the key artifacts that we interpret when the museum opens and these grant funds will help us to better preserve the building’s large signature windows.”
