“Today, we learned that the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office arrested Ms. Thompson on a charge of soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship with a student, Fluent said. While the judicial process plays out and as our internal human resources review continues, Ms. Thompson will not be returning to the classroom; however, I want to remind everyone of the presumption of innocence.”
Fluent added that Thompson was removed from the classroom earlier this school year upon receiving allegations she was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student.
In her absence, Fluent said the science teacher s classes will be staffed by a long-term substitute.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriff s Office is investigating a teenager s death after a dive team recovered his body from a retention pond on the campus of the University of North Florida, according to the JSO.
At about 6 p.m., several people walking in the 4800 block of Kernan Boulevard on the UNF campus noticed a body in a nearby retention pond, JSO said.
Both officers from the JSO and UNF Police Department responded to the scene. A JSO dive team recovered the body, which was identified as a teenage boy, police said. JSO did not identify the teen but said he was not a student.
Suspect in custody after hours-long standoff with St. Augustine police

An hours-long stand-off in St. Augustine led to the arrest of man at the St. Augustine Wastewater Plant near Eddie Vickers Park, the St. Augustine Police Department said.
According to the SAPD, police received a call for suspicious 40-foot motorhome driving into a restricted area of the St. Augustine Wastewater Plant. When police arrived on the scene, they found two men barricaded inside the motorhome.
The younger of the two men surrendered without incident. However, the older man, later identified as 54-year-old Joseph Vincent DiMaggio, remained inside the motorhome. Police did not specify the relationship between the men.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4Jax has obtained more than a dozen police body camera clips, shedding additional light on the arrest of Brittany Williams, who was arrested in May after a confrontation with an officer at her home on East 21st Street.
The Jacksonville woman says she asked a police officer - who had parked in her driveway - to leave and that she was arrested after the officer entered her home without a warrant.
