Amritsar: A proposed meeting of Sikh bodies has courted controversy after several groups alleged that the proposed meeting has been called to garner panthic votes for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ahead of assembly elections in Punjab.
The meeting of intellectuals and representatives called by Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh is likely to take place today.
The other Sikh groups have now alleged that the meeting was being allegedly held to develop an environment of religious sentiment in favour of the Akali Dal.
