May proclaimed Mental Health Awareness Month - Fannin

BLUE RIDGE, Ga – Fannin County Commissioners declared May 2021 as Mental Health Awareness Month. Members of Fannin County Connection accepted the proclamation. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans are diagnosed with a mental health condition per year. 46 percent of Americans will be diagnosable with a mental health condition at some point in their lifetime and half of those will be before the age of 14. At this time, 44 million Americans are experiencing mental illness with 42.5 million suffering from an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is one of the more prominent disorders in America. 24.6 million Americans don’t receive treatment for their mental disorders whether it’s anxiety, substance abuse, depression, bipolar, post-traumatic stress, schizophrenia, or suicidal thoughts.

The city of Blue Ridge Police Chief Johnny Scearce spent most of his battle with COVID-19 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was as close to death as you can come, said Brenda Scearce, Jonny s wife. Brenda said the prayers, great team of doctors, and glory of God is what brought her husband through COVID-19 which nearly took his life.

After spending 94 days in the hospital battling COVID-19, a beloved Georgia police chief is headed home.  Surrounded by a crowd of cheering doctors and nurses, Blue Ridge Chief Johnny Scearce waved goodbye to those at Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. The hospital posted a video of the honor walk  on Thursday. Chief Scearce s wife, Brenda said her husband caught MRSA and suffered from a collapsed lung during his months-long battle with the virus. She said that he did not have any underlying conditions, but she worried that her husband would not come out on the other side.

Blue Ridge, Ga. – After a long battle with Covid-19, Blue Ridge Chief of Police and recently elected Fannin County Post 1 Commissioner Johnny Scearce has been released from the hospital. CHI Memorial Hospital released a video of Scearce being cheered on as he made his Honor Walk out of the hospital. “Thank you all, God bless and what a great hospital and staff,” Scearce said as he made his way through a hall of staff cheering on his recovery. Johnson acknowledged that he’s comfortable continuing to serve the county for a period of time while Post One-elect Johnny Scearce continues to recover. However, he did put a time limit on his return – 90 days or six meetings. “I’ve always taken my position here very seriously,” Johnson remarked. “Our current circumstances in Fannin County it’s unordinary and unusual event that’s taken place.”
