Alna selectmen set this year’s tax rate July 29 at $18.95 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, the same as last year.
Officials said education costs were up, but so were excise tax and state revenue sharing. Second Selectman Linda Kristan said she met July 20 with Treasurer Amy Stockford and assessors’ agent John O’Donnell. Kristan called the flat rate good news. Some people are still struggling, she said.
Meeting over Zoom for the lone item, the board set the rate a year to the day the last board set 2020’s rate.

On Saturday morning at 11.am., parts of Tejon St. will be packed with parade go-ers. As many as 25,000 people can be on the parade route, meanwhile those participating are getting their floats ready.
