STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In her wildest dreams and at 99 years old, Helen Gargano never imagined COVID-19 would shut down the world. Resilient as ever, Gargano turned 100 on Feb. 17, and despite months of strict social isolation regulations, she celebrated the milestone with a surprise Zoom birthday party.
Hosted by Eger Harbor House, where Gargano resides, special guests at her virtual birthday party included her sons, John and Richard, their families, and many nieces and nephews. Delicious cupcakes were shared with Gargano’s closest friends near and far, as everyone looked forward to in-person visits in the near future.
