New York State Team ALBANY – New York s moratorium on evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic will remain in place for another month even as the White House will allow the federal government s similar policy to expire at the end of July. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Thursday announced the Biden Administration intends to allow the federal moratorium to expire Saturday as scheduled, suggesting a Supreme Court ruling wouldn t allow it to be extended without congressional approval. But the federal move won t have much impact in New York, where residential and commercial tenants remain protected by a state law halting evictions through Aug. 31.
