New York, NY (77WABC) The Empire State is the first in the nation to make such a declaration. On Monday afternoon, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order, declaring gun violence a disaster emergency and announced sweeping reforms to prevent gun violence and to take illegal guns off the streets of New York.
“Self-interest demands that we attack gun violence. Basic fairness demands that we attack gun violence,”
said Governor Andrew Cuomo. “Civil rights demands that we attack gun violence. Humanity demands that we attack gun violence.”
Today I am issuing an Executive Order declaring a Disaster Emergency on gun violence.

New York City is one of the most liberal cities in the country. They’re vehemently anti-gun as well as anti-police. We saw that last year when the people there demanded reforms in the name of social justice.
Well, they got them.
