Greenup Industries Fortifies Louisiana Levees and Increases Storm Protection in Time for 2021 Hurricane Season

As work continues on the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) West Shore Lake Ponchartrain Levee stockpile projects, Greenup continues to hire locally as it anticipates completing one project by this summer.
Greenup was awarded the portion of WSLPP (“Stockpile II) in January 2020.
Approximately 157,000 cubic yards have been stockpiled thus far. This represents 25 percent of the 500,000 cubic yards to be excavated and stockpiled. LAPLACE (WVUE) -Six people attending a 12-year-oldâs birthday party Saturday were injured when at least one person opened fire.
The St. John Parish Sheriffâs Office says the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Golfview Drive in Laplace.
Upon arrival, officers learned multiple people were shot when verbal confrontations during a childâs birthday party led to gunfire.
No one was killed in the shooting.
No one has been arrested at this time.

LAPLACE (WVUE) - A LaPlace man is in jail and charged with second-degree murder after authorities from the St. John Parish Sheriffâs Office say that he sold fentanyl to a victim that later died as the result of the powerful drug.
The charge comes for Kayon Rasheed Johnson, 43, as the result of an investigation by detectives that included the return of a toxicology report for the victim from the coronerâs office last December.

ASCENSION PARISH - Certain members of Ascension Parish s law enforcement are sporting a new look for a good cause.
In a Wednesday (Dec. 23) news release, the Ascension Parish Sheriff s Office (APSO) announced that during the month of November Sheriff Bobby Webre allowed deputies to sport facial hair as a show of their support of the American Cancer Society.
APSO says other agencies were asked to participate and together raised over $30,000.
Today we presented a check in the amount of $30,775 to the American Cancer Society - Louisiana raised during the month.
