A Burleson police officer is hospitalized after he was shot multiple times during a traffic stop early Wednesday, prompting a manhunt for the suspects, police say.
The officer, who has not yet been identified, pulled over a vehicle due to an equipment violation at about 4:15 a.m. along the 1100 block of Southwest Hillside Drive, near the Burleson High School campus, Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said.

When the officer approached the passenger side front door and turned toward the window, someone in the car fired multiple shots through the window, striking him multiple times, Cordell said.

A woman identified by Burleson Police as Robin Waddell, 61, was carjacked outside a Burleson home after the officer was shot. She turned up at the Joshua PD with multiple gunshot wounds and later died from her injuries, Burleson police said.
Burleson Police Officer Joshua Lott is in stable condition with injuries not considered life-threatening. Lott was shot at least three times in the chest, shoulder and neck.

A police officer in a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas, has been hospitalized after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop, with the suspects still at large.
The Burleson Police Department tweeted that the officer had stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Hillside Drive in Burleson at around 4.15 a.m. on Wednesday. During the traffic stop the officer was shot multiple times, police said.
The officer was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, police added, and details about his condition were unknown.
