28 people arrested in Gasabo over prohibited gathering

The house where the group had congregated, located in Musezero Cell, Nyakariba Village is owned by one only identified as Christine, who fled from the scene during the operation. Prayer gatherings, worship services and visits are among the prohibited activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson, CP John Bosco Kabera said that the violators belong to different religious denominations. “They came from the sectors of Gisozi and Kinyinya. They include 20 women and eight men as well as children. The group was congested in a small room and there are higher chances that one infected person could have easily infected all others,” said CP Kabera.

Police arrest 13 in house party for violating Covid-19 preventive measures

Editor January 18, 2021 comments off Rwanda National Police (RNP) has arrested 13 people in City of Kigali after they were found holding a house party and drinking. House parties and social gatherings in general are among the events prohibited by the government as part of the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The violators were arrested Saturday night in the house of one Prosper Ndayiragije located in Remera Sector, Gasabo District. RNP spokesperson, CP John Bosco Kabera said that the violators first refused to open the gate when Police officers arrived to enforce the directives. Fidele Tuyizere, a security guard at the house, told the media on Sunday that he was instructed by his boss-Ndayiragije-not to open or allow anyone inside the compound.

Police arrests 17 people caught in house party drinking

Editor January 11, 2021 comments off Police and local leaders in Kicukiro District, in the morning of Sunday, January 10, arrested 17 people in Kanserege, Kagarama Sector where they had spent a night in a house party drinking. Their actions are contrary to the government directives, which among others, prohibits social gatherings as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. The violators, all youth, came from different parts of Kigali. The District Executive Administrator for Kicukiro, Solange Umutesi said that the violations were reported by neighbours. “Neighbouring residents, who understand the current situation and the directives called local authorities and Police reporting noise pollution. We went there and found the young boys and girls in the house drinking and dancing. Some of them were drunk,” Umutesi said.
