Former Waitomo mayor and mayoress Brian and Andrea Hanna s long service to the community was recognised by its council this week.
Time for past mayor Brian Hanna has always been something he’s been short of, with most of it going to the wide array of committees and volunteer groups across the Waitomo District. This week, he was recognised for that. Whether too early or too late, former Waitomo mayor Brian Hanna’s recent accolades have been humbling he said this week. Two weeks ago, he received a lifetime achievement award at the council’s community awards ceremony in Te Kūiti, an event started under his mayoralty and one he thought was too early to be at the receiving end of.
