It was a stressful quarterfinal weekend for many college lacrosse fans, but this year’s powerhouses pulled through.
Championship weekend will feature the nation s top four programs of the tournament field, positioning Maryland with No. 2 Duke for a highly anticipated semifinal matchup. The two blue-bloods will be facing off in the semifinal for the fourth time in 10 years at East Hartford, Connecticut. Growing up in Salem, Va., with three older brothers playing lacrosse against their brick garage next to their goal in the driveway, Joe Robertson used to time up his imaginary game-winning goals to match up with the commentary in old highlight videos.
One clip that always stood out to Robertson was when Ned Crotty found a cutting Max Quinzani, who with his weaker right hand delivered the game-winner with 12 seconds left in Duke’s 2010 semifinal win against Virginia. More specifically, Robertson would time it up to about 90 seconds into an old JLProductions3 “Best of College Lacrosse 2010” video.
