Sabres captain Jack Eichel is questioning his long-term future in Buffalo amid a disagreement with the team over treatment options for the herniated disk in his neck. There s been a bit of a disconnect from the organization a bit and myself. It s been tough at times, Eichel said in his exit interview with members of the media on Monday. Right now, I think for me the most important thing is just trying to get healthy and figure out a way to be available to play hockey next year wherever that might be.

It’s been another trying year for the Buffalo Sabres, losing their coach and finishing dead last in the NHL. You can forgive a veteran player not wanting to go through that again, which makes Rasmus Ristolainen’s comments to reporters including John Vogl of The Athletic and Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News Monday not much of a surprise. I’m open for all the ideas. Right now, it’s hard. Obviously the season just ended so, yeah, I’m frustrated and I’m pissed and it sucks. So I told him I’m open for all the scenarios: staying or if he trades me, I’m fine with that too.
Sabres D Ristolainen fine with being traded
Buffalo Sabres defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen said during his season-ending press availability on Monday that he told general manager Kevyn Adams that he s open to be traded and he s also okay with staying with the team he s spent the entirety of his seven-year career.

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Michael Houser is set to make his first career NHL start on Monday versus the New York Islanders, the club announced.
Houser’s been on the Sabres’ taxi squad for much of the 2021 season but has yet to play a game. The 28-year-old was never drafted, and his last professional appearance came on March 7, 2020, for the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones, according to Jourdon LaBarber of the Sabres website.
