No COVID baby boom in Nevada births down 7% | Reno Memo Reno-Gazette-Journal 4/28/2021 The COVID-19 baby boom didn t happen. Almost from the beginning of the pandemic, experts wondered if Americans would get bored with Netflix and breadmaking long enough to get pregnant, but an AP analysis of the early data says no, we actually stuck with Netflix and bread. Births for all of 2020 were down 4.3% from 2019, the data indicates. More tellingly, births in December 2020 and in January and February 2021 nine months or more after the spring 2020 lockdowns were down 6.5%, 9.3% and 10% respectively, compared with the same months a year earlier, writes the AP s Mike Stobbe.

Reno home prices: New median high blows past previous $500,000 record

Spring has sprung in the Biggest Little City and so has yet another record high for median home price. The median price for an existing single-family house in the city of Reno reached $514,000 in March, up by nearly 20% from just a year ago, according to the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors. The price is for stick-built dwellings and does not include condos, modular homes, townhouses and new housing. Just next door, Sparks posted a new high mark as well. The median sales price for an existing home in the neighboring city reached $446,718 for the first time. The increases in both cities brought the combined median for Reno-Sparks to a record $485,000.
