Last week, there were a few news articles about our family business, White Water Farms (WWF), and our work on the Wekiva Parkway providing sand through excavation permits. Unfortunately, the narrative that has permeated the media is not an accurate representation of the facts or the circumstances that have brought us to where we are today.
Here are the simple facts. WWF is a farm on 80 acres with an Agricultural Tax Classification from Lake County. WWF is constructing, installing and soon to be operating a U-pick blueberry farm, along SR 44, north of Mt. Dora and east of Eustis as soon as our first batch of 11,000 blueberry plants go in next month. We have hired a blueberry farming expert, a civil engineer experienced in agriculture, an environmental and agricultural expert, and an agricultural economist. With permits issued Dec. 10, developers Marc Peter Kozman and Magdi Samuel can start work on converting the former FBI Building into the Arlington Apartments at a cost of $11 million.
As Theotokos Holdings LLC, the developers own the property at 7820 Arlington Expressway and will turn the six-story building in 118 apartments with an amenity center and gym.
Axios Construction Services LLC of Fern Park is the contractor. Fisher Koppenhafer of Jacksonville is the architect.
The city issued permits for 95,256 square feet to be converted into apartments at a cost of almost $10.98 million and for a 6,745-square-foot amenity center and gym at a cost of $100,000.
