Bauer, who initially didn’t want to be identified after rescuing the toddler, recalled the five-car accident on the Route 90 bridge in Ocean City, Maryland that led to the toddler being thrown into Assawoman Bay at a press conference Friday. During the press conference, shared by WJLA, Bauer explained that the first thing he remembered hearing was the screeching of tires and then he saw a truck turn over on the bridge s railing. He went to try to help a passenger get out of the truck and once the passenger safely exited the vehicle, Bauer said they didn t say much and simply pointed down at the water.

Seven others were also injured, according to the Ocean City Fire Department.Officials said emergency crews were called at 2:47 p.m. to the Maryland Route 90 bridge for a crash involving a vehicle that was half way over the guardrail.Officials said the 2-year-old was ejected from the vehicle that was teetering over the guardrail, landing in the Assawoman Bay below. Officials said a good Samaritan jumped over the guardrail and into the bay, rescuing the toddler.Firefighters secured the vehicle with rescue tools while paramedics treated multiple patients. Seven people were taken to hospitals, and the girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Children s Center in Baltimore.As of Monday, the 2-year-old girl remains in stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said in a news release. Ocean City, Md., police released an update Wednesday on the condition of the 2-year-old who was thrown off the Route 90 bridge Sunday during a five-car crash. The toddler has been released from Johns Hopkins Children s Center in Baltimore and is back home with her family, according to Ashley Miller, deputy communications manager for the Ocean City Police Department. She is expected to make a full recovery, Miller added. Police previously said Monday afternoon that the toddler was in stable condition. The toddler was airlifted by Maryland State Police to Baltimore on Sunday after she was ejected from a pickup truck and fell several dozen feet into the Assawoman Bay near Ocean City.
