I am eight months pregnant during the current height of our country’s coronavirus pandemic. It’s extremely unlikely that it would be possible to get a COVID-19 vaccine before I can see my toes again, but even if I could, I’m not sure I’d want it. Though both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have technically been approved for anyone over 16 and 18, respectively, neither were tested in pregnant or breastfeeding people. With no data available, and no recommendations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), pregnant and nursing people interested in receiving the vaccine (including vulnerable healthcare workers), are in the frustrating position of being told to weigh the risks and benefits with their doctors who are also making decisions in the dark.

As health care workers and nursing home residents await the first scarce syringes of the COVID-19 vaccine, few realize that when they will get a dose depends a lot on what state they live in.
Though they’re first in line for the vaccine, some people in those groups may end up getting vaccinated after people in other states who are deemed lower priority.
The vaccine is allocated according to the number of adults in each state, which doesn’t correlate to the number of high-risk people living or working there. As long as supplies are limited, some states won’t get doses proportionate to their needs.
Beijing Municipality reporter 2 new confirmed cases, both close contacts of the imported case from Hong Kong reported on 12/14., and both have been under quarantine since 12/16. There are 2 confirmed domestic cases in the city. So far, 43 close contacts have been traced and quarantined, and 109 environmental samples collected from the cases’ residences and work place. 21 samples from their residences have tested positive. The remaining 88, including all the samples from their work place, have tested negative. The hotel were all 3 cases stayed are designated as Medium Risk.
Dalian in Liaoning Province reported 1 new confirmed case, a traced close contact of one of the asymptomatic cold chain logistics workers reported in recent days. There are currently 1 domestic confirmed and 6 domestic asymptomatic cases there.
