Georgia is celebrating National Flag Day today.  The current national symbol of Georgia, also known as the Five Cross Flag, was officially introduced in January 2004. While speaking about the importance of the national symbol, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said that ‘it inspires a patriotic spirit and great pride in each of us [Georgians]’. The national flag of Georgia contains the history of our country and people, the values and aspirations that we will always uphold. I am sure that the time when this symbol of Georgian statehood will be erected next to the flags of the member states of the European family is not far away”, said Gakharia.
