When the students and staff at Cleveland Elementary saw the devastation left by the tornadoes that tore through Coweta County, they sprung into action to help. The Crocodile community recently held a book drive gathering up supplies for classroom libraries for Atkinson Elementary in Newnan.
Atkinson Elementary sustained heavy damage and was relocated to West Georgia Technical College to finish the school year.
Bennett’s Mill Middle also joined Cleveland and jumped in on the book drive to help out.

North Georgia Technical College has named Leslie McFarlin as the school’s new vice president of economic development.
McFarlin, of Carnesville, has served as dean of academic affairs for the industrial technology, transportation, and public service programs at NGTC since 2018. She has been employed by the college since 2007, serving in various roles as a math instructor, Quality Enhancement Plan coordinator, and academic dean of general education, learning support, and personal services.
In 2013, McFarlin was awarded the Technical College System of Georgia’s Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction for NGTC and was the state runner-up for the entire college system.
On Tuesday, Karen took to Instagram to post a loving message to her son. Her full post read:
“Your wings were ready but my heart wasn’t. Son, it has been such a pleasure and honor to be your mother. You’ve left me with so many wonderful memories that I will treasure daily. Your transition has left a huge gap in my heart and the pain is quite unbearable. I will miss you tremendously and my love for you is for ever. Rest well, my baby boy, until we meet again.”
In Scottie’s April 19 announcement about his son’s death, he noted that Antron had chronic asthma, which prevented him from reaching the NBA.

ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) - Jones College’s JaKayla Johnson and Daisha “Nunu” Bradford were two of 10 student-athletes to earn WBCA Two-Year College Coaches’ All-America honors, as announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.
The Coaches’ All-America team is comprised of the 10 best players in National Junior College Athletic Association basketball, regardless of position, as chosen by the division’s head coaches.
