LIFEWTR Releases Black Art Rising Series Featuring Artistic Expressions of Black Purpose-Led Artists 0 Shares In fall 2020, LIFEWTR, a premium bottled water brand with a history of amplifying social progress through art, launched “Black Art Rising,” a digital art exhibit documenting the diverse artistic responses to the Black Lives Matter movement. The exhibit was created to not only preserve the moment in time, but to help keep the movement alive and ensure future generations could access the art and artists who acted as vanguards of change. How to celebrate Black History Month 2021 across Phoenix: 8 virtual and in-person events KiMi Robinson, Arizona Republic In honor of Black History Month, organizations, activists and businesses in metro Phoenix are hosting virtual and in-person events throughout the month that recognize works in arts and music, historical figures and contemporary issues. This year’s theme, chosen by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, is “The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.” ASALH will offer virtual programming throughout the month “in observance and celebration of the strengths, struggles, resistance and the sheer perseverance of the Black family.”

MLK Day 2021 in Austin: Ways to observe and celebrate virtually

Austin 360 Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, and normally, there would a big parade in Austin to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of the civil rights leader. But since there s a pandemic on, things aren t happening normally.  Here are a few ways you still can mark the holiday and support the Black community in the Austin area. • The Austin Area Heritage Council, which organizes the main MLK Day celebrations in the city, will be holding the Austin Area MLK Day Livestream and In-Car Rally starting at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The in-car rally will be held in the parking lot of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3417 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Organizers are limiting car slots to about 60 due to Stage 5 coronavirus guidelines, with preregistration required. As of this writing, fewer than 10 slots remain.
