Popular Northern Westchester Teacher Dies Suddenly At Age 48

Danielle Marie Coletta of Peekskill was 48 years old. She was a sixth-grade teacher at Mildred E. Strang Middle School in Yorktown. Her career began at Columbus Elementary School in Hawthorne, teaching second grade, followed by many years at Brookside Elementary School in Yorktown, as a third-grade teacher.  She attended George Washington Elementary School in Mohegan Lake, Copper Beech Middle School, and Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor.  She graduated from Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y. with a Bachelors s Degree in Education and Western Connecticut University where she received a Master s Degree in Education. Danielle will be remembered for her devotion to the teaching profession. 

Police execute warrant in Midtown Kingston in connection with homicide of 12-year-old girl

Police activity outside of 49 Franklin Street in Midtown Kingston , NY 12/23/20 KINGSTON, N.Y. — State police executed a search warrant at 49 Franklin St. on Wednesday afternoon in connection with their investigation of the fatal shooting of 12-year-old D’Janeira Mason on Dec. 17, a Kingston police lieutenant said. Investigators could be seen removing brown paper bags from the house. - Advertisement - Reached by phone Wednesday evening and asked whether an arrest had been made, Ulster County District Attorney David Clegg said, “You know, there are things in progress. … We’re moving very quickly on this and will be able to say more soon. … We’re moving towards resolving and solving this case quickly.”

Two Kingston men charged with murder in fatal shooting of 12-year-old girl

Robert James Provided - Advertisement - Gilbert Thomas, 24, and Robert Nikia Nikki James, 46, both of Kingston, were charged with second-degree murder, felony assault and criminal use of a firearm in connection with the Dec. 17 fatal shooting at 60 Van Buren St., state police said Thursday morning. James was arrested at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, and Thomas at 12:21 a.m. Thursday. Both were being held in the Ulster County Jail without bail on Thursday. State police executed a search warrant at 49 Franklin St. in Midtown Kingston on Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting, a city police official said, and investigators were seen removing items from the home. (State police took over the investigation from the Kingston police shortly after D’Janeira was killed.) An Ulster County Jail official said Thursday that James lives at 49 Franklin St. and Thomas is a former resident of that address.

Ulster DA urges patience, says probe of girl s homicide in Kingston wrapping up

A lot of progress is being made, said District Attorney David Clegg. Things are coming together.
