MONTICELLO, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – A murder investigation that started in Jasper County comes to an end in Putnam County.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a murder in Monticello around 9:00 Sunday night. Deputies found the victim 41-year-old Kira Ammons shot multiples times. According to the GBI, witnesses at the scene told law enforcement that 38-year-old James David Mathis, of Eatonton, was responsible for her death.
When Jasper County deputies contacted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Mathis’ home. Putnam County deputes say they heard gunshots when they arrived at Mathis’ home. Deputies also claim Mathis shot at a deputy’s patrol car. Deputies report later finding Mathis inside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

MONTICELLO. Ga. - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an alleged murder-suicide in Putnam County after officials said a man shot a patrol car before shooting himself.
The GBI said deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff s Office went to the home of 38-year-old James David Mathis on Sunday in Eatonton as part of a murder investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff s Office.
Officials said witnesses told Jasper County Sheriff s Office investigators that Mathis was responsible for fatally shooting 41-year-old Kira Ammons from Monticello.
The GBI said Jasper investigators contacted Putnman County Sheriff Howard Sills, who dispatched deputies to Mathis home.

Jasper County Sheriff s Office: Man wanted in March 2 shooting turns himself in

A man wanted in connection with a March 2 shooting outside Ridgeland has turned himself in to police, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said.
JaBari Singletary, 24, of Ridgeland, was wanted on charges of pointing and presenting a firearm. He turned himself in April 6, Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby said.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Bees Creek and Busy Bee roads. No one was injured and there were no reports of property damage, police said.
One previous arrest was made in the shooting March 11 when Shania Douglas, 22, of Ridgeland, turned herself in, Crosby said. Douglas was charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.
