Govt apologises for PCC disruption, acknowledging challenge of return to regular service after pandemic Pic: Johnny Bugeja 7th May 2021 The Minister for Health, Samantha Sacramento, yesterday apologised for the disruption experienced by users of the Primary Care Centre, underscoring the challenges faced by the Gibraltar Health Authority in resuming regular health services after the Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement, Ms Sacramento noted the concerns raised by many members of the public about the availability of GP appointments and the effectiveness of the PCC telephone system, adding an investigation had been launched to establish the cause. Since the announcement of the increased availability of face-to-face appointments last week, this resulted in a high demand for appointments, but with GPs either on annual leave, sick leave or deployed elsewhere, this affected the day-to-day running of the system.

A total of 4,283 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in Gibraltar since the start of the pandemic, so it is estimated that over 400 people have taken longer to recover after six to 12 weeks of testing positive for the virus.

In an 84-page judgement overturning the tribunal’s decision, Puise Judge Liam Yeats said a one-off incident of that nature could not be classed. In person GP appointments return to Gibraltar as pandemic recedes One of the 15 visitors to Gibraltar with COVID-19 is fighting for life in critical care Share \n );document.write( \n \n\n );} RESIDENTS of Gibraltar could be able to get a check-up with their regular GP very soon as the health department started to return to normality. After nearly 70,000 vaccines were distributed on the Rock, face-to-face appointments will return to normal levels after the COVID-19 pandemic. During the last year, GP visits and in person appointments were limited as many consultations were held over the phone. There are now 15 active coronavirus cases in Gibraltar, all visitors, one who is in the critical care unit.
