Yonekura, Ferrari book Olympic tickets in Doha

Doha: Japan’s Hidenobu Yonekura yesterday qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by winning the men’s Vault final at the 13th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup at Aspire Dome.
The Doha leg was specifically designed by FIG for individual specialists and was applicable to those who couldn’t qualify to the Games through the 2018-2019 World Championships. Before heading into the MAG vault final, South Korea’s Shin Jeahwan led the overall rankings.
But Yonekura overtook the Korean with a score of 15.016 in the final that earned him a ticket to Tokyo. Igor Radivilov and Andrey Medvedev finished second and third respectively on the podium.

Bulgaria claim three golds at Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku Sunday, 9 May 2021
Bulgaria claimed two team golds and an individual title at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.
In the five balls final, Bulgaria clinched the gold medal with a score of 45.600, holding off Italy who won silver with a total of 44.550.
Hosts Azerbaijan scored 44.000 to finish third, with Belarus and Uzbekistan completing the top five.
A second team medal was won by Bulgaria in the three hoops and two clubs final via a score of 43.150, yet again holding off Italy who were second on 41.900.

Italy’s 17-year-old Sofia Raffaeli will seek to build on last month’s success in her Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup debut in Sofia when she competes in the second World Cup of the season set to start tomorrow in Uzbekistan s capital Tashkent.
Raffaeli was one of the revelations of the opening event in this year’s International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) series, where she took silver with the clubs and bronze with the ribbon for detailed routines of unusual artistic and musical sensibility. I was not expecting medals, she told FIG. The only thing I wanted was to perform my exercises at my best.
