Arkansas governor says he regrets signing mask ban amid COVID-19 surge By Andrew DeMillo President Biden renews push for COVID-19 vaccine President Joe Biden urged Americans to get vaccinated as the COVID-19 delta variant continues to cause a surge in cases. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson pressed forward Tuesday with efforts to allow schools to mandate face masks as the state’s coronavirus cases continued to spiral, but faced heavy opposition from fellow Republicans over the move. Hutchinson called the majority-GOP Legislature back into session to take up the change to a state law he signed in April prohibiting mask mandates by schools and other governmental bodies. The agenda for session, which will begin Wednesday, also includes a proposal to prevent the state from having to resume making supplemental unemployment benefits to thousands of residents.

Arkansas Governor Wishes He Hadn t Banned Masks After All

“If only that thing hadn’t happened that I made happen”. -Governor Asa Hutchinson “In hindsight, we should not have fucked around, because now that we are finding out, I do not like it.” Hutchinson is especially remorseful for banning schools from implementing mask mandates, seeing as most school-aged children are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine and that whole “kids can’t catch the virus” thing that a lot of conservatives were pushing for much of the pandemic turned out to be complete BS. The governor is asking the general assembly to call a special session to amend the law to allow schools to decide their own rules regarding masks.
