A4S launches framework for incorporating climate change into valuations

Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) has launched a new framework which helps business valuators price climate change risks and opportunities for organisations.
A4S Essential guide to Valuations and Climate Change provides a five-step framework that enables investment and valuation communities to apply climate change risks and opportunities consistently to their valuations and decision making. The aim of the guide is for the integration of climate change into valuations to become accepted practice.
The guide was developed as part of A4S, in partnership with CPA Canada, finance teams from its CFO Leadership Network, global institutional investors and industry experts. Contributing members to this guide include Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), New Zealand Superannuation Fund, OME

The ethical decision by the New Zealand Superannuation
Fund to disinvest in Israeli banks should be followed by our
government according to local Palestinian
supporters.
The NZ Super Fund has announced that it
has dumped its investments in five Israeli banks because the
Israeli banks were funding the construction of illegal
Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian
Territories.
A NZ Super Fund analysis “concluded the
Banks are materially contributing (and are highly likely to
continue to contribute) to the construction of settlements
in the OPT”.
Palestinian supporters here have
frequently complained about these banks to the NZ Super

Kirsty Mactaggart Appointed to Guardians’ Board of NZ Super

Former Fidelity executive, Kirsty Mactaggart has been appointed to the Board of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, serving a five year term beginning in April 2021. She was Head of Equity Capital Markets for Asia Pacific with fund manager Fidelity from 2005 until 2018, and before that spent eleven years as Managing Director at investment bank Citigroup in both Europe and Asia.
Guardians’ Chair Catherine Savage welcomes the appointment saying in a press release, “Kirsty is a well-respected industry leader with a unique global perspective developed over her varied career. Her appointment comes at a challenging time in financial markets and we look forward to receiving the benefit of her expertise.”
