The local government unit of Marikina City has appealed for additional COVID-19 vaccines, especially as the city’s remaining dosages are declining.
According to the city government, the remaining 1,600 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are scheduled to be used this Monday, while the remaining doses of Sinovac vaccines will last only 3 days.
“Nakikita natin ‘yong pagtaas ng vaccine confidence ng mga tao lalo na kung maraming pinagpipiliang uri ng bakuna,” said Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.
“Nakikita nila tuloy-tuloy tayo sa pagbabakuna at nakikita nila na maraming iba’t ibang tao na nagpapabakuna ngayon,” he added.
In Manila, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced that the city would buy more vaccines due to limited supply.

An investigation is now being conducted on the alleged selling of coronavirus vaccines (COVID-19) procured by the government, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire made the statement following the reported sale of vaccines in the cities of Mandaluyong and San Juan.
The DOH and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) are now looking into the matter, she said.
“Tayo ay nakipag ugnayan na sa ating mga local government officials. Sila din po ay gumagawa ng kanilang imbestigasyon (We already coordinated with our local government officials. They are also conducting their own investigation),” said Vergeire during the Laging Handa press briefing on Saturday, May 22.

“We attribute this enormous decrease to the strict implementation of ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine), MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine), and now GCQ (General Community Quarantine) alongside our local government’s relentless efforts to do continuous contact tracing, RT-PCR swab testing, isolation, and treatment,” Zamora said.
Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan were placed under a bubble called the NCR Plus to mitigate the surge of COVID-19 cases.
Zamora said the city now has 19,004 of its residents already vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Our ongoing vaccination drive is a prime mover in our fight against COVID-19 and in protecting our people,” Zamora said.
