The Contra war in Nicaragua, a bloody affair which took tens of thousands of lives during the ’80s, it was no place to raise a child. But, it bred a fighter and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez emerged from the devastation to become a success story.
Growing up in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, Gonzalez (50-2, 41 KOs) describes his childhood surroundings to proboxing-fans.com as, “a very humble environment that helped me value what God has given me now through my boxing career.”
‘Chocolatito’ had emerged from the darkest of places to cement his name in the history books of the sport he decided to dedicate his life to.
SHO, 9:00 pm ET,
ShoBox: Brandun Lee vs Samuel Teah. Nice little four-fight card from ShoBox which if recent tradition holds will probably be whittled down to three by the time we get there. Lee is one of my favorite “ShoBox Guys” to come down the pike in a while now, and I don’t in any way mean “ShoBox Guys” as an insult. This series has produced a lot of quality fighters, and I think Lee might be someone the power promoters whiffed on, he’s an exciting prospect to watch. Teah’s a good test for him at this stage.

Suddenly, after an arid year 2020, things are happening at a dizzying pace for Albuquerque amateur boxer Sharahya-Taina Moreu.
Of the most interest: Yoruba Moreu, his daughter’s coach, said she has been elevated to USA Boxing’s Olympic-qualification alternate position at 152 pounds.
Sharahya-Taina got that news while in Big Bear, California, where she’s been in camp with legendary pro Cecilia Braekhus, helping Braekhus prepare for her March 13 rematch against Jessica McCaskill.

Before the big guns take care of business on Matchroom’s March 13th Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez 2 DAZN tripleheader, the young guns will set the stage. According to the press release, Raymond Ford, Austin “Ammo” Williams, and Otha Jones III will “all take a big step-up” on the undercard.
Confirmed for March 13’s World title triple-header in Dallas:
Ford (8-0, 4 KO), a 21-year-old featherweight out of Camden, NJ, is coming off a nice seventh-round knockout of Juan Antonio Lopez last December. He meets another unbeaten youngster in 23-year-old Aaron “Angel Baby” Perez (10-0, 6 KO), who’s yet to graduate past fighting opponents with losing records.
