Image: RollingNews.ie Image: RollingNews.ie Updated Jan 14th 2021, 2:43 PM EDUCATION MINISTER NORMA Foley has said there will be “additional choice” in this year’s Leaving Cert but there will be “no change” to the length of the exams.  Speaking in the Dáil this afternoon, Norma Foley said that an advisory group involving students, parents, teachers, education providers and the department is meeting regularly to discuss the planned hosting of Leaving Cert 2021.

A law student who is homeschooling three of her children who have autism while also studying for her own college exams says she now has to carry out seven different roles because of the supports which have been taken away from them by Covid-19 restrictions. Carol Lennon says as well as being a carer for her children, she is now a physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, counsellor, psychologist and, since Monday, a teacher – and all without any qualifications. Ms Lennon described it as ironic that she is studying human rights while her children, she believes, have been robbed of theirs in education.

Army to enforce Covid regulations

Army to enforce Covid regulations MASERU-THE government says it will deploy the army and police to enforce Covid-19 regulations following a dramatic surge of infections countrywide. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro on Lesotho Television on Tuesday night. Majoro also announced that the government was shutting down schools as Covid-19 positive cases spike. This is the second time this academic year that schools have been shut down. The government initially shut down schools at the beginning of April during the first lockdown but reopened in August for students who were to write their end of year examinations.
