A record-setting number of students got GPA 5 in last year s HSC, thanks to the lack of actual exams and the results being reflections of each student s grades in public exams held before the pandemic.
The 2020 HSC grades announced yesterday were based on a student s score in JSC and SSC exams.
For the first time in history, everyone who registered for the HSC would be given a certificate.
HSC, equivalent results Saturday
The results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams of 2020 will be published on early Saturday.
The results will be officially announced at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha at 10:30am.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the programme through video conference from Ganabhaban, said the education ministry.
The HSC results were evaluated based on the students’ Junior School Certificate (JSC), and Secondary School Certificate SSC results as no exam was held considering the Covid-19 situation.
The results will be published after coordinating 75 percent of the SSC and 25 percent from the JSC and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) results, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni recently.

The HSC results were prepared based on the students’ Junior School Certificate (JSC), and Secondary School Certificate SSC results as no exams were held considering the Covid-19 situation.
The results will be published after compiling 75 percent of the SSC and 25 percent from the JSC and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) results, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni recently.
The decision comes at a time when all schools and colleges are preparing for reopening.
The education and the primary and mass education ministries issued separate statements on extension of closure yesterday. However, Qawmi madrasa will remain outside the purview of the government s directive.
On March 17 last year, the government closed all schools to contain the spread of coronavirus. The closure led to cancellation of exams, leaving academic calendars in disarray.
Both the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and the Directorate of Primary Education have already sent a guideline to all colleges, secondary schools and primary schools to prepare for reopening by February 4.
