EAST LANSING – Michigan State’s roster continues to turn over early this offseason, and the attrition has now reached the team’s frontcourt.
Spartans forward Thomas Kithier had entered the NCAA transfer portal as of Tuesday morning, meaning other teams can contact him about a possible transfer for the 2021-22 season.
Michigan State junior forward/center Thomas Kithier (pictured vs. Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament) will enter the transfer portal, according to media reports.
Kithier started 14 games for the Spartans this past season. But he fell behind Malik Hall, Julius Marble, and Mady Sissoko on the depth chart and he did not play in two of the team s last three games.

The Spartans now have now lost a total of five players since the end of the season. Josh Langford and Aaron Henry are going pro. While Kithier, Jack Hoiberg, and Rocket Watts have all entered the transfer portal.

Thomas Kithier is off to the transfer portal.
With his departure, Kithier is the third Spartan to take that plunge this offseason, joining Jack Hoiberg and Rocket Watts. With Aaron Henry and Josh Langford also announcing departures, Michigan State now stands at 12 out of 13 scholarships filled for next season.

The 6-foot-8 big man will be looking elsewhere to finish out his college career after a junior season where he averaged 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. While he did start 14 of MSU’s 26 games this past season, he averaged just 10.8 minutes in a clogged big man rotation.
