LOUISVILLE, Ky. As Jefferson County Public Schools closes out its year with in-person classes, the district is acknowledging that virtual learning is the best option moving forward for some kids and families.
Now, Kentucky s largest district is proposing an expansion of Jefferson County High School, which currently offers any student 16 years of age and older the chance to earn a diploma through virtual courses.
According to agenda documents posted online ahead of Tuesday s JCPS board meeting, the district wants to expand and re-envision Jefferson County High School into a cutting edge, rigorous, first-option Virtual School for grades 6 to 12.
The expanded, full-time virtual school option would be available starting for the 2021-22 school year, JCPS spokeswoman Renee Murphy told The Courier Journal.
