Health, state leaders ask for patience on COVID-19 vaccine By Courtney Chandler | January 12, 2021 at 10:48 PM CST - Updated January 12 at 10:48 PM
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - State Health Officer Scott Harris says the state does not have the supply to meet the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We know everybody who needs one is going to get one sometime but it’s just not there yet,” Harris said.
There are 40,000 to 50,000 shots are being administered a week. Around 88,000 doses have been given from the 270,000 that has been allotted so far.
State leaders are asking residents to remain patient.
“I want my constituents to know that we are very much in the midst of this pandemic still and while help is on the way, you got to inform yourself about these vaccines so you can make decision for yourself and your family members,” Alabama 7th District Rep. Terri Sewell said.
