Jefferson County School Board set to interview 3 superintendent finalists Public invited to take part in next week s interviews MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) The Jefferson County School District 509J Board of Directors will be conducting interviews next week with three finalists to become the next superintendent. The interviews will take place on the evenings of Tuesday, March 2, Wednesday March 3 and Thursday, March 4. The new superintendent will succeed Ken Pershall, who announced last fall his plans to retire as of June 30. Opportunities to meet each candidate will be held at the Performing Arts Center, 412 Buff Street in Madras, from 7-8 p.m. on each of the three evenings. Candidate evening meetings will be open to the public and available via YouTube stream to accommodate more of the community for viewing, due to capacity seating due to COVID.  Limited seating in the PAC will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and in compliance with current COVID restrictions.

Jared Polis for making inaccurate statements during an interview on CNN. He said educators in Colorado are getting “two tests” a week on national television. Two Douglas County School District teachers said they are not getting two COVID-19 tests a week. He had a lengthy response, but teachers said they were stunned when he said educators are getting two tests every week. He didn t clarify what kind of tests, but teachers we spoke with said it s clear he was talking about COVID-19 test.

Kay Ivey is scheduled on Wednesday morning to tour the widespread damage from Monday night’s tornado that touched down in Fultondale and killed a 14-year-old boy, injured more than 30 people and left a trail of devastation in its wake, her office announced Tuesday. Ivey is set to hold a press conference with Fultondale Mayor Larry Holcomb, Center Point Mayor Bobby Scott, Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency Director Jeff Coker and Alabama EMA Director Brian Hastings before surveying the damage caused by the EF-2 tornado, her office said.
