Colorado Puts Vaccine From Johnson & Johnson On Hold — Here s What To Know As It s Under Investigation

(AP Photo/David Zalubowski) Vials of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine sit in the pharmacy of National Jewish Hospital for distribution early Saturday, March 6, 2021. Colorado has suspended the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after federal authorities announced the investigation of six cases in which people who received the vaccine developed blood clots.  “I think this pause is a strong reflection of the national oversight of vaccine safety, seeing events like this occur, something very rare, like these six blood clots, really does require us to take a moment and look around,” said Dr. Eric France, chief medical officer for the state health department during a press conference Tuesday. “The first question really is, are these events coincidental, just happening to follow the vaccine? Or are they somehow associated with vaccination? That will be the work of the next couple of days here in the United States.”

JHS juniors putting on the prom

Spring sports, prom and graduation — some degree of normality is returning to the lives of Jefferson High School students as the pandemic hits the one year mark.  Last year, the arrival of COVID-19 in Montana in March either put the brakes on, or greatly changed, many rites of passage, as schools across the Big Sky were closed for the remainder of the school year.  The pandemic is still here, but the situation has evolved enormously from a year ago, particularly now that vaccines are becoming more widely available.  Recently, JHS students Ellen McLean, Joey Visser and Gracie Leiva decided that one of those rites of passage — the annual prom — needed to get back on the schedule. The prom, like spring sports, was cancelled last year.
