Young Vestavia Hills woman dies 10 days after she, 2 friends were struck near Avondale Park

A young Vestavia Hills woman who was hit by a vehicle while walking with two of her close friends near Avondale Park has died.
Devyn Carder Danley, 25, died Saturday at UAB Hospital, more than a week after she and her friends were struck. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said Danley was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m.
The crash happened Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 4:21 p.m. in a crosswalk at 40th Street South and Fifth Avenue South. Few details have been released about the crash, but the accident is under investigation by Birmingham police.

Fa Quansa Sha Georgia Ancrum, 30, of Lexington, Kentucky, died of multiple gunshot wounds around 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at University of Louisville Hospital, the Jefferson County Coroner s Office said in a news release Sunday.Â
Around 1:15 p.m. Dec. 5, Louisville Metro Police officers found Sha Georgia Ancrum shot in a vehicle near the intersection of West Oak and Dr. W. J. Hodge streets, police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said in a statement. A child, who had also been shot, was in the vehicle with Sha Georgia Ancrum, according to authorities.Â

JEFFERSON COUNTY Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal car crash that took place on Carson Road in Fultondale last week.
According to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 37-year-old Paula Marie Odom, of Gardendale, was killed when the Honda Odyssey she was operating collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. Authorities say the Tahoe, which was traveling east on Carson Road, crossed over the center line and struck Odom’s vehicle.
Odom was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“According to reports, a SUV had been reported as driving erratically in the area,” said Sgt. Joni Money. “Moments later, a vehicle matching the description of the reported vehicle collided head-on with a Honda Odyssey.”

According to reports, Danley and two friends were hit in a crosswalk near Avondale Park. All three women were transported to UAB Hospital where Danley remained until her passing. The other two are recovering.
