View Comments A Louisville man was killed in a fiery crash that shut down part of Interstate 71 in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said. An SUV traveling north on I-71 near the road s split with the Watterson Expressway at about 3:30 a.m. hit a rock wall, overturned and caught fire, Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said. One person, identified as 41-year-old Robert Kurtis Thomas, was found dead inside the vehicle. Thomas died from blunt force trauma, the Jefferson County Coroner s Office said.
