Jefferson County wanted felon committed suicide as deputies closed in

The Jefferson County Sheriff s Office has identified 38-year-old Michael Shane Marr of Labelle as the fugitive felon who fatally shot himself when deputies were preparing to serve him with an arrest warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault and a Parole Violation. His family has been notified. He d once served time for murder. The warrant went out last week and Sheriff Zena Stephens and Capt. Crystal Holmes say Marr evaded deputies who were looking for him. They considered him armed and dangerous. Deputies were following up on tips they received and they tell us the man had family in the Labelle area.

By Harold Mann Jul 2, 2021 The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man the shot and killed himself last night as deputies were approaching with a warrant. 38-year old Michael Marr had been the subject of manhunt for a sexual assault warrant and a parole violation warrant. Marr was located at the Bayou Din Crossing in Labelle. After receiving verbal command from deputies, Marr pulled a gun and took his own life.
