FAIRFIELD The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 1:20 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021.
Sgt. Joni Money said a deputy was patroling the area near Western Hills Mall when he heard multiple gunshots. The deputy then saw a vehicle leave the roadway, strike a tree and come to a rest near the 7200 block of Aaron Aranov Drive.
When the deputy got to the vehicle, he found that two people inside the vehicle had been shot. A 35-year-old woman and a 26-year old man were transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital. The man had life threatening injuries and the woman’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
