Actress Gong Seung-yeon s latest film premiered at this year s Jeonju International Film Festival, which started its 10-day run with a red carpet event in the southwestern city on Thursday.
As its title suggests, Aloners subtly portrays those who lead solitary lives. The film has been invited to the competitive section of the annual festival and was screened on Friday ahead of its general release on May 19.
Gong, who has appeared in a number of TV series since her debut in 2012, took on her first cinematic lead role in the film.
She plays a woman who chooses to live in seclusion and do things alone, instead of socializing with others, but faces changes in her life.

The organizers of Korean film festivals have expressed solidarity with the people of Myanmar in their opposition to the military coup, showing support for their collective bravery in fighting for democracy.
In a joint statement released Tuesday, the organizers condemned the violence against peaceful protestors that has led to numerous deaths of civilians, including children.
