After nearly a decade in downtown Canton, Jeff Wagner opened the second location of his sandwich shop Thatsa Wrapp in Plain Township, near the North Canton border, in 2019.
The original downtown location closed last year, but the popular eatery lives on at the Thatsa Wrapp Shack, which offers a carryout only menu stuffed with wraps, salads and sides.
Thatsa Wrapp Shack emphasizes fresh, local ingredients in unique combinations these aren’t your typical meat-and-cheese wraps and is known for its homemade sauces, desserts and creating the “perfect chip.”

Homemade dip: The chip dip, which is equally delicious with a side of veggies or its perfectly crisp homemade chips, is addictingly good. Thatsa Wrapp also sells containers of the dip solo so you can try it on your favorite snacks at home.

Vaccine distrust
A disproportionate number of them are from minority communities.
Black Americans are 1.1 times more likely to contract COVID-19, nearly 3 times as likely to be hospitalized, and nearly twice as likely to die from the disease, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hispanic and Latino individuals as well as American Indians and Alaskan natives also are disproportionately likely to be infected, hospitalized and killed by the coronavirus.
Currently, Ohioans 65 and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as high-risk health care workers, K-12 school staff and those with severe congenital, developmental, or early-onset medical disorders and disabilities.
The Stark County Health Department which serves county residents who don t reside in Canton, Alliance or Massillon is continuing to vaccinate those in the current 1B eligibility group, communication specialist Chris Cugini said in an email. Due to limited quantity and a large volume of folks still in the queue, we ask for patience as we call to schedule your appointment, he said.
The majority of clinics this week are devoted to those receiving the second dose of the two-shot vaccine, he said.
More than 34,000 Stark County residents have received at least the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
But they shouldn t throw away those masks quite yet. Local health departments are encouraging vaccinated folks to continue practicing social distancing, washing their hands, wearing a mask, and avoiding crowds until more people have a chance to get the shot. The vaccine is not a free pass, said Chris Cugini, communication specialist with the Stark County Health Department.
Even though the county s latest COVID-19 data is promising, this is still a critical time, he said. We realize how difficult this has been for so many people, but we ve all made those sacrifices, and we don t want to ruin those sacrifices we ve made, he added.

The new president of Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital started in the role Tuesday, which included visiting each unit of the Canton hospital and meeting employees. There s a very positive energy here. There s a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. It s just been fantastic so far, he said. Honestly, it was a fun day. It was a really fun day yesterday.
The former Mercy Medical Center officially became part of the Cleveland Clinic health system Monday after more than a century as a Sisters of Charity hospital.
The hospital will maintain its Catholic identity through sponsorship by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine.
