Up to 2500 workers from Vanuatu, Samoa and the Solomon Islands will be arriving from July until late March 2022. “Entry into New Zealand will be staggered to ensure the MIQ system is not overloaded at any one time,” a statement from the joint head of MIQ, Brigadier Rose King, said. For many New Zealand Defence Force members working in
managed isolation and quarantine facilities, Anzac Day looks
quite different from usual.
In other years they would
have taken part on public events and services to commemorate
and honour those who have come before them. This year they
will be on duty at the 32 MIQ facilities across New
Zealand.
At any one time, over 1000 NZDF personnel
work at MIQ facilities, providing security and operational
support and leadership.
“We could not have MIQ
without our committed and skilled Defence Force members”,
said joint Head of Managed Isolation and Quarantine, Megan

The motel-like set up of Jet Park Hamilton means guests can safely stand at their doors for a small NZDF-led Anzac ceremony. “We are working hard to make sure that Defence Force personnel and MIQ, especially those who are on duty on Anzac Day, are recognised and everyone gets to participate.” Returnees are also being encouraged to get into the spirit and be creative with resources designed by MIQ and Defence Force staff. The motel-like set up of Jet Park Hamilton means guests can stand at their room door, which overlooks the car park, for a small ceremony led by Defence Force members.

Fletcher forecasts 312% operating profit rise, sector faces recruitment pressures

Fletcher Building has bounced back, forecasting it will make $610 million to $660m operating profit for the full year, up on the previous year s pandemic-hit $160m. Last year, the business reported a net earnings loss so this year s anticipated result is a huge turnaround for New Zealand s largest building materials manufacturer, supplier and builder.
But the latest forecast rise is not as spectacular if one looks back to 2019, when it made $549m operating profit.
Still, the company exceeded even its own forecast top-end range this week. It had said that in the half-year to December 31, 2020, it would make $305m to $320m but it came in $3m above that at $323m and surprised the market by declaring it would reinstate dividends and pay shareholders 12cps next month.
