Who's a bestselling author, weed entrepreneur, martial arts black belt, and now a SXSW Online 2021 keynote speaker? Willie Nelson, that's who (oh, yeah, and he may have written a tune or two).
The Red Headed Stranger is usually pretty busy during South By, but with his annual "anti-festival" the Luck Reunion on hold for another year, Shotgun Willie is getting on the digital road again as one of the headliners for SXSW's 2021 digital conference – a rare appearance, and his first since his pop-up set Spotify House in 2016.
Of course the festival seems giddy for his words. “No individual has had the cultural impact on, or been more synonymous with the creative vibrancy of Austin than Willie Nelson, and we are incredibly honored to have him as a SXSW Online 2021 Keynote,” said Hugh Forrest, Chief Programming Officer.

To the Editor:
“Heat on Biden Over Diversity Grows Intense” (front page, Dec. 13) immediately brought to mind what confirmation of Gen. Lloyd Austin as defense secretary could mean to young Black boys.
For high-profile role models, Black males in their formative years have limited options beyond megastar rappers and athletes. As an African-American male who grew up in the South as segregation was fading, I and others in my generation were fortunate to have for inspiration the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., trailblazing actors like Sidney Poitier and our own unsung teachers and clergy.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Healthcare workers are first up on the list of eligible Mississippians to get the COVID-19 vaccine. And many are looking to lead by example.

âWeâre doing this as a demonstration to let people see that we mean what we say and weâll do what we say,â explained MSMA President Dr. Mark Horne. Ten doctors rolled up their sleeves for that very reason Wednesday afternoon.
