Bill To Repeal Ban On Abortion Coverage Heads To Northam's Desk - Woodbridge, VA - The Virginia Senate passed a bill Thursday repealing the ban on abortion coverage on the state's health care insurance exchange.

RICHMOND, VA The Virginia House passed a bill Tuesday that removes a ban on abortion coverage for health insurance plans offered through the state s health exchange, making Virginia the first state in the South to end these restrictions on abortion access.
The bill, SB 1276, passed the Senate in a vote of 54-45. Parallel legislation, HB 1896, is scheduled for a Senate vote later this week. If the bill passes the Senate, both bills will then head to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, who is expected to sign them.
