Kara Scully said there is a one in 20 chance her daughter could have a massive stroke and not recover from Pial Synangiosis surgery. Surgery is scheduled for June 30 unless COVID-19 pushes everything back even further.

Some of the surgeries and procedures booked at the North Bay Regional Health Centre in the last two weeks of May will not be cancelled and will proceed as scheduled, says Kim McElroy.
âThe North Bay Regional Health Centre continues to realign its surgeries and procedures to balance the health human resources of our organization, while also supporting health system capacity and the needs of our patients,â says McElroy, the hospitalâs manager of communications.

“Nobody talks about the bad things,” said new mother Kensey Butkevich.
Butkevich decided to share her story about motherhood and postpartum to help others who may be suffering in silence and are questioning why they feel the way they do.
“I wanted to share my story about the fourth trimester,” she told The Nugget. “It was hard and I quickly found out that not a lot of people talk about it. I just had Griffin, who is now nine-months-old, and I was three-and-a-half hours away from my family. I had no support, this isn’t what I had envisioned. We were alone and truly isolated, which was hard to go through.”
