Nanton Town council has agreed to provide funds towards a J.T. Foster graduation banner to be placed on the municipal billboard along Highway 2 southbound.
Dawn Jersch of J.T. Foster’s grad recognition committee had written a letter to the Town of Nanton asking for financial support.

Nanton Town council did not choose to write another letter to the province regarding coal development along the Eastern Slopes after receiving correspondence from High River’s mayor.
In a letter dated April 19, High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass wrote to Nanton Mayor Jennifer Handley asking that Nanton’s council consider writing to Premier Jason Kenney and Energy Minister Sonya Savage requesting that all exploration activities on the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies be ceased, pending the outcome of a meaningful public consultation process.

Is it OK for dogs to be off-lease if “under the direct and continuous control of the owner or a competent person,” or should they always be on a leash?
That was the question the Town’s services committee asked Nanton’s council to answer at its May 3 meeting before a legal review of the draft animal ownership bylaw occurs.

Measures needed to be taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta, but there are no winners from the province having to bring in tougher restrictions, says Nanton’s mayor.
Premier Jason Kenney announced stronger public health measures May 4 to bend the curve, sustain small businesses, and protect the health-care system. As of end-of-day May 5, there were 24,156 active cases, with 666 people in hospital, including 146 in intensive care, with COVID-19.
