Firefighters & EMS Fund supported important fire referendums and ballot measures throughout Ohio ahead of the November 3rd election. Firefighters & EMS Fund provided time, expertise, and resources to support ballot initiatives in Saybrook, Genoa Township, Refugee Canyon Fire District, and Jerome Township, Ohio.
Firefighters & EMS Fund was contacted by a committee from Genoa township after they heard about the organization s mission to support public safety and requested help to make their case to the public for why their fire and EMS levies should be renewed.

Work on a Genoa Township hotel that caught fire during construction last year is near ready to resume in full.
Interior work involving a lot of clean up following the October 2019 fire at the Hampton Inn off Latson Road has been ongoing. A 4th floor fire after drywall was installed but before furniture had been moved in spread to 3 or 4 rooms, according to Chris Abbo, Vice President of Construction and Operations for the Namou Group, which runs the hotel.
Through the process of putting out the fire, water worked its way down to the lower floors, leaving more than the initial smoke and fire damage. As a result, they had to gut and demolish part of the interior, while opening up the roof to expose everything. They were able to do most of this while their insurance company investigated the claim, but then were put on hold to resubmit a second set of plans to the township and authorities. Abbo estimat

Although the clock is ticking, there is still time to make a donation for the Livingston County Toys for Tots program.
Each year, the Marine Corps League teams up with the Salvation Army of Livingston County to hold the Toys for Tots campaign. Livingston County Coordinator Gary Dunn, speaking Wednesday during Brighton Fordâs annual Toys for Tots collection event, says while the official deadline to donate toys to the dozens of collection boxes throughout the county has passed, they will still accept them for the next few days. We ll still take up through the 23rd. They can take them to 3600 E. Grand River (in Genoa Township) which is the old Dick s (Sporting Goods) or SWAT (Elite Sports) building, next to Speedway.

Firefighters rescued a local woman Thursday after she fell through thin ice on an area lake.
The Brighton Area Fire Authority says they received a call for a person through the ice on Big Crooked Lake just after 5:30pm. The victim, identified as a middle-age female from Genoa Township, was reportedly in the water approximately 75 feet from shore. Chief of Training Greg Mowbray says first arriving crews were on scene within five minutes. After crews dressed out in cold water rescue suits, two âwater rescuersâ made entry onto the partially frozen lake and were able to keep the woman afloat and secured to them while additional on-scene rescuers were able to extract all three using safety tethers.
